Dr. Donna Jagielski Michelle Bevins and Tori Toth with Arizona Sustainability Alliance
The Arizona Sustainability Alliance is a volunteer non-partisan group committed to protecting our environment and promoting sustainable living through action and advocacy. Through: civic engagement, collaboration and education. We empower Arizona citizens to work together toward more verdant, equitable, and sustainable communities.
We share a deep concern about catastrophic climate change, the future of our planet, and the health and well-being of generations to come. The Arizona Sustainability Alliance focuses on five priorities which are: conservation, renewable energy, sustainable food systems and urban forestry.
Dr. Donna Jagielski, known as Dr. J. has served in the volunteer role of Outreach Coordinator with AZSA and just recently transitioned into the full time role of Education Programs Manager. Both of these roles fit her STEM background perfectly.
As a professional educational leader in both formal and informal learning settings for over 20 years Dr. J. has been a dedicated advocate of the sustainable food systems priority with AZSA. Dr. J. has served as a STEM and technology director, instructional coach and currently serves as the principal for the adult learning alternative school which has a CTE, workforce development program in partnership with Rio Salado College.
Dr. J. holds two M.A. degrees and a doctorate in leadership and innovation with a focus on STEM based learning. Some of her current projects include writing about STEM based learning for the ITEEA journals, and developing STEM based family literacy programs for underserved populations.
Michelle Bevins is from Phoenix, AZ. She has been with Arizona Sustainability Alliance for almost five years. Volunteering in a full-time capacity for 2-½ years during AZSA’s beginning years and then as a full-time employee for over two years, Michelle has collaboratively helped grow AZSA to where it is today.
Currently, Michelle is the Interim Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. She has a strong drive to protect the environment and advocate for sustainability. Michelle has incorporated many sustainability practices in her personal life and continues to add more as the opportunities present themselves.
Michelle enjoys inspiring people, gardening, hiking, camping, creating various art forms, cooking and baking, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
Tori Toth is the Marketing Manager with Arizona Sustainability Alliance. With a recent move from NYC, she wanted to learn more about desert living and use her experience as a Lifestyle and Visual Marketing Strategist to advocate for cooler and healthier communities across the valley.
Tori is one of the first graduates of the 2021 Urban Heat Leadership Academy offered by Phoenix Revitalization Corporation and The Nature Conservancy. She looks forward to boosting AZSA’s visibility in the community through a variety of marketing tactics to increase awareness, participation and fundraising efforts.
