Dustin Thompson is a PMO servant leader with over 15 years’ experience in project management. Dustin believes that a successful PMO leader must play for the front of the jersey(team/company name) not the back (his name). His mantra is “speed with purpose”.
He has committed his life to continuous learning and innovation. Becoming a strong business leader is just as important as project methods. He contributes his success to building skills often overlooked by project leaders, such as sales, crucial conversations, EQ, mindfulness, and how to say no. He truly believes in a culture owning performance and accountability.
He says that he does not like the word “problem” because it implies defeat or points blame, instead he sees challenges that he can stand up to, face head-on with grit and optimism. There is no point trying to change other people to make your success a reality, instead, he focuses on what he can control and influence. “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”
Dustin has a strong passion for servant leadership. He truly cares more about others’ success than his own. He believes that helping others become successful makes him successful. He shows up every day and asks who is that one person that needs my help the most today, and then what is the single most important thing I can I do today to contribute to making the company’s strategy successful.
