BRX Pro Tip: How to Be a Good Guest Transcript
Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, let’s talk about — let’s share some some tips for being a good guest on the Business RadioX network or, I suppose, on any show.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:15] I think one of the key components of a good guest or key attributes is the ability to tell a story. When you have stories to tell that illustrate your expertise and success stories of clients, that’s where stuff really comes alive. That’s where you really have an opportunity to do something memorable. And then, you’ll be able to create content that you’ll be able to use again, and again, and again.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:39] So I would start thinking about stories, kind of crafting stories that really illustrate how well you do what you do and why you’re so unique in the marketplace. And don’t be afraid to be a little vulnerable and tell kind of the good, the bad, the ugly of things because it makes you more like a human being. A lot of — people are tired of this slick, “I got everything figured out. Just trust me and hand over your lunch money.” Nobody wants to kind of do business that way anymore. They understand that things are hard. There’s some times that you make a mistake. They care more about how you fix the mistake rather than knowing that everything’s going to work perfect every single time.
Lee Kantor: [00:01:20] So, act like a normal human being, tell good stories, don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, and don’t forget to give out your contact information and best ways to reach you. And make sure that on those pages that you do have stuff that they can kind of learn more and take next steps to do a business with you.
Stone Payton: [00:01:38] And I would say with specific respect to the Business RadioX network, and there are other radio shows out there that are this way, come prepared to have an authentic, just genuine conversation. I know when I was first introduced to the Business RadioX network, and I had my very first interview here, I came in, you know, arm for bear, right? Because I’d been on those other radio shows where you had those quick little quips, and in and out, and talking points. So, at least, for the Business RadioX Network interviews, just come in ready to be a real person and have a genuine conversation.
Lee Kantor: [00:02:11] Right. Don’t be afraid to talk about your why. Don’t be afraid to share information, tips, and tricks, and tactics. That’s all good stuff. But the bottom line is just be a normal person that isn’t too polished and isn’t too slick. People want to know the real you.
